Notice of Accommodation Tax Implementation (Effective 1 April 2026)

Please be advised that an accommodation tax will be introduced by Hokkaido Prefecture and the City of Otaru starting from stays on and after 1 April 2026.

 

 

■ Accommodation Tax (Applied per person per night according to the room rate as shown below)

*The taxable “room rate” includes the service charge but excludes meal charges and consumption tax.

*The accommodation tax will be applied to stays on and after 1 April 2026, even if the reservation was made prior to that date.

■ Tax Exemption

・If certain conditions are met, such as accommodation for school trips or school events, the accommodation tax may be exempted. A certificate will be required.

・There are other exemption requirements as well, so please check the official websites of the relevant local governments for details.

 

 

■ Payment

Except for certain stays, the accommodation tax will be collected at the front desk upon check-in.

Please note that the tax is not included in the room rates shown on our website or other booking sites.
