The Banpo Museum is located on the eastern outskirt of Xi’an City. As the first museum of the prehistoric period, it was built at the base of the excavations of the Banpo site. Unsurprisingly, it also houses artifacts like production and domestic tools, adornment, and artwork from the archaeological site of Banpo.  Since its opening to the public in 1958, two million people have visited it.

The Bell Tower is a traditional building that sits in the center of Xi’an ancient city.  Boasting as one of the proudest architecture in the hearts of locals, this important landmark extends to East, South, West, and North Streets, connecting the Tower to the East, South, West, and North Gates of the Ming City. The wooden tower, which is the largest and best-preserved of its kind in China, is a 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel. 

Bell Tower

The City Wall is the most complete and best-retained city wall that has survived in China. Labelled as the largest ancient military defensive system in the world, this attraction is a mere 5 minutes away from the hotel. For an enjoyable and interesting experience, the most recommended way to explore the attraction is through cycling. There are a total of 18 gates encircling the City Wall but note that not all are open to visitors. The South Gate (Yongning Gate) is perhaps the most reputable and magnificent one amongst all.

The sight of Daming Palace brings remembrance to the “heavenly” Tang Dynasty - remarkably known as one of the most powerful empires in Chinese history. Much was the effort in building the main royal palace in the said dynasty; it also took two centuries of constant construction and became one of the most magnificent imperial palaces surrounded by gardens and waterscapes in the 7th to 9th centuries.  Nestled within Daming Palace are countless attractive and elegant buildings like pavilions, towers, and corridors.  It was said that the Forbidden City was built according to the layout of Daming Palace.

An iconic landmark in the history of Xi’an, Dayan Pagoda (also known as Big Wild Goose Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. It is also the most famous Buddhist pagoda in China. The pagoda sits in the Da Ci’en Temple and is located in the southern suburb of Xi’an City- about four kilometers from the downtown. This famous place of worship is rated as a National Key Culture Relic Preserve as well as an AAAA Tourist Attraction. It also earned a place in the World Heritage List in 2014.
Tip: Remember to check out the Musical Fountain on the North Square.

Dayan Pagoda

Drum Tower is located northwest of the Bell Tower, across the Bell Tower and Drum Tower Square. Both the Bell and Drum Tower are often referred to as “sister buildings” or “morning bell and dark drum”. In ancient China, especially during the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368), the drums were used to signal the passing of time and alarm for emergencies. Housed within the Drum Tower is a drum museum where a variety of drums (some dated back to thousands of years) are on display. Do check out the music performance happening daily as it adds a breath of cultural freshness to the exhibitions. For those who are game enough for a little workout, climb to the top of the tower and you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the city.

About 40 minutes drive from the hotel, the Terracotta Warriors and Horses is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang- the First Emperor of China. The figures, dating from 210BC were discovered in 1974 by a group of local farmers residing in Lintong District- near the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. This is certainly a sight not to be missed and a must-have on all itineraries of visitors.

Famen Temple, renowned for storing the Finger Bone relic of Sakyamuni Buddha, is located in Famensi Town - about 15km northwest of Fufeng County. With a history of 1,700 years, it is considered the most prestigious temple throughout Buddhist history. It was said that unexpected lightning struck a pagoda, split it, and opened up a Mandala underground palace. Judging from its grand architectural style, the palace is likely to have been constructed during the Tang Dynasty.

With over 900 years of history, the Forest of Stone Steles Museum in Xi’an houses a great amount of the earliest stone steles and sculptures of different dynasties. Also known as the Steles Forest and Beilin Museum, it is located on Sanxue Street, inside the Wenchang Gate of the Xi’an City Wall. Among the precious relics, 19 groups of them are deemed to be national treasures and some 3000 steles make it one of the most unique stone libraries in the world.

Situated at the northern foot of Mt. Lishan in Lintong Country, 30 kilometers from Xi’an City, Huaqing Hot Spring is famed for both its dainty spring scenery and the romantic love story of Emperor Xuanzhong (685-762) and his concubine Yang Guifei in the Tang Dynasty. Its long history and location among the wonderful landscapes of Xi’an City should entice any visitors to visit and bathe in this hot spring. Do not be in a hurry to leave after a relaxing dip because a grand Tang Dynasty performance- The Song Of Unending Sorrow is played every evening. 

Huaqinggong Relic Site

Mountain Hua is located in Huayin City 120km east of Xi’an and is known as the Mount in the West of China. Coincidentally, the mountain is at the east of Qinchuan, the north of Qinling, and the south of Yellow River and Weihe River, guarding the gateway against the Northwest to the Central Plains. Not only is the Mountain full of masculinity but it is also known as the holy land of Taoism because it houses several influential Taoist temples - where many emperors of past dynasties took part in Taoist activities and performed sacrificial rituals. 
Tip: Most visitors opt for a walking-ascending and cable car- descending route when climbing the mountain. 

Mountain Hua

Muslim Snack Street is located in the north of the Drum Tower of Xi’an City and sells the most variety of snacks. This snack street comprises a few other streets like Beiyuanmen, Xiyangshi, Daxiaopiyuan, Beiguangji, and they are all linked with one another. Muslim visitors would appreciate this food paradise because there are stores selling halal food in each street, all handmade, cheap, and delicious.

Located at the top of Liangshan Hill, this mausoleum is undoubtedly an eminent tourist site.  Interestingly, the place was constructed to resemble the city of Chang’an or present Xi’an. As the mausoleum for Emperor Gaozong and his wife, Empress Wu ZeTian (the only female who ruled China), this is perhaps the best-preserved and unique one built during Tang Dynasty. 

Qianling Museum

Shaanxi was an important province in China’s imperial past because Xi’an served as the capital of China for thirteen dynasties for over 1,100 years. To some extent, one may associate and consider the ancient history of Shaanxi pertinent to the ancient history of China since it was where the imperial civilization started.  The building is situated in the southern suburbs of Xi’an City and covers an area of over 70,000 square meters and houses more than 37,000 historical relics excavated from all over Shaanxi Province.  Since its opening to the public in 1991, its architectural buildings, internal apparatus, and exhibits have deemed it worthy as a first-class museum in China.

Tang Paradise is located at the side of Dayan Pagoda in Xi’an City and is a large-scale imperial garden cultural theme park that displays the styles and features of the Tang Dynasty. This attraction not only claims to be the biggest cultural theme park in the northwest region of China but also the first royal-garden-like park to give a comprehensive peek into the Tang Dynasty’s culture. Welcoming you into the garden is an aroma made possible by incense burners placed strategically on both sides of the path.
